MIPIM 2020 checks in to the global hospitality trend
Delegates can expect a dedicated exhibition area and programme of events on hospitality & tourism, including an exclusive, closed-door summit

Paris, 30 January, 2020 – Iconic and visionary creator Philippe Starck is part of an expert line-up at MIPIM 2020 which is set to expand upon the global hospitality trend this year.
Organised by Reed MIDEM, a subsidiary of Reed Exhibitions, MIPIM, the World’s Leading Property Market, will be held in Cannes from 10 to 13 March 2020.
As hotel investment returns to the fore for global funds, and the hospitality theme contaminates every sector of the real estate industry, MIPIM participants will be able to check in with a richly-focused programme comprising:

Hospitality’s new dynamism
After being regarded as a niche asset class for many years, hotel investment is back on the radar for institutional funds, with JLL reporting on the Hotel Investment Outlook 2019 that generalist investors are now behind 70% of global hotel deals. A mix of late-cycle resilience and growth dynamics are being boosted by the travels of experience-seeking Millennial and Gen Z consumers, plus urban mixed-use trends.

New protagonists are emerging in the creation of hybrid and modular hotels, with brands such as Mama Shelter, Okko and citizenM redefining modern accommodation options.

Meanwhile, the hospitality world’s service-led model is being increasingly borrowed right across the real estate industry to capture customers in a human-centric marketplace. Bringing concierge desks to retail assets and informal lobbies to modern offices, it is also influencing concepts in the expanding living segment – from multifamily schemes to senior housing – and shaping disruptors such as co-living and co-working.

Hospitality and Tourism summit
During MIPIM 2020, a closed-door Hospitality and Tourism summit (12 March 8h-11h, Martinez Hotel) will give delegates unique access to a range of tools to get ahead in the business. Dubbed ‘The future is hospitality’, this summit will gather CEOs from the major hospitality groups, political leaders, developers and investors to assess the importance of the hospitality asset class and its impact on economies and society

The world-famous French creator Philippe Starck will share his vision on hospitality, while table discussions will range from how cities can create the right conditions for hoteliers, to how new types of hospitality enhance real estate. Another panel will tackle co-branded hotels, the new frontier in experiential retail. A CEO wrap-up conference, meanwhile, will offer an exclusive testimonial by Karin Sheppard, SVP & Managing Director, Europe, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

A dozen dedicated conferences and networking events will also broaden the discussion, covering everything from investment trends, to the quest for luxury and innovation, to urban development drives. Exhibitors from Hilton to Accor, brands such as Club Med, B-aparthotels and Colive, and business-leaders from cities and firms including PwC and Microsoft will drive the debate. MKG Consulting and MIPIM will reveal the results of the Investment in Hospitality report on Tuesday 10 March, 3pm (Beige room, Palais 3).
